Los Angeles Dodgers free agent JD Martinez and his girlfriend, Brooke Wheeler, are expecting
Wheeler took to social media to post the announcement. In the Instagram reel video, the couple is seen striding along the beach before Wheeler holds up sonogram photos of their child. She posted the video with the caption, “Our littlest love.”
The news comes as Martinez remains a free agent with the 2024 MLB regular season approaching. Martinez spent the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a one-year, $10 million deal. After hitting .271, 33 home runs and 103 RBIs with the Dodgers, he earned his sixth All-Star nod.
Before joining the Dodgers, the 36-year-old had played for the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros over thirteen years in the major leagues.
For now, Martinez remains on the market. The Dodgers have reportedly been interested in bringing back Martinez at points this offseason, but have yet to do so in part because they already brought in Shohei Ohtani.
Naturally, the three-time Silver Slugger Martinez has garnered interest from several teams, including the Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants. He reportedly also met with the Miami Marlins recently.
If all goes as expected, Martinez will likely join another team soon. For the time being, he has other exciting news with a baby on the way.
