Bears Sign Two Players to Roster

Bears free agent Collin Johnson has returned to the team on a one-year contract and former 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore also has signed with Chicago.

The Bears signed former Packers and 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore as well as their own free agent wide receiver, Collin Johnson, ahead of next week’s start of free agency.

Moore, a 6-foot-2, 200-pounder, is 27 years old and was a third-round draft pick by the 49ers out of Southern Mississippi in 2018.

Moore started 13 games and played in 61 for the 49ers from 2018-22. He suffered a torn Achilles tendon in 2021 and missed the entire season.

Last year Moore signed with Green Bay but suffered a knee injury in Week 2 of preseason. The Packers cut him released him with an injury settlement. At the start of training camp, he had been considered one of the players who could win a battle to replace Adrian Amos after he was not retained in free agency.

However, the injury and play of others led the Packers to release him. He played on 1,096 special teams snaps and 1,046 defensive snaps with the 49ers, most of the defensive plays coming in 2020.

Johnson is a 6-foot-6, 222-pound receiver who the Bears signed last year and got into three games after he had played in 2020 for Jacksonville and 2021 for the Giants. He had an 11-yard reception last year. In 2020 he had 18 catches for 272 yards and two touchdowns for Jacksonville and in 2021 made 11 receptions for 105 yards for the Giants.
