Our Goal Is To Try And Get Something Done” Miami Dolphins Aim To Secure Long-Term Deal With Star QB Tua Tagovailoa
The Miami Dolphins had retained the superstar quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with his fifth-year option last year and he will be under contract which will cover the upcoming season.
The Miami squad has seen the prominence of Tagovailoa in the last season and the potential is high that they might discuss with him a long term contract with high compensation.
In 2018, the incredible quarterback was awarded the Walter Camp Award and Maxwell Award and before that he was the CFP National Champion and also won the CFP National Championship Offensive MVP.
In 2022, Tagovailoa was the NFL passer rating leader and last year he was the NFL passing yards leader. The Pro Bowl quarterback has admirably garnered the attention and importance from the Dolphins organization with his noteworthy performances.
According to SI’s Alain Poupart via South Florida media members in Indianapolis, the general manager of the Miami Dolphins, Chris Grier shared regarding the contract discussion and mentioned, “We’ve been in communication since the offseason began (and) we’re going to talk to his agent here this week. Our goal is to try and get something done. (Agent) Ryan Williams has been great. Tua has been great. We’ll see. There is no timeline on it. At the end of the day, you know how these deals get done. They are complicated deals and we’re building a team through free agency as well. We’ll work through it and see if we can get something done.
“I think we’re hopeful. When you go through these things — you guys have all been around and you see other teams go through that — these are deals that very rarely come together quickly. There are a lot of pieces and moving parts. We’ve had positive discussions so far, and we’ll keep working here throughout the offseason.”
He further continued, “I think everyone, if we can do something, would like it done before the season. But you’ve seen over the last few years, some of these other big deals that have been done have gone all the way into training camp, because they are complicated deals to put together with the money and stuff people are talking about.”
According to PFT, the accomplished quarterback achieved his career highs in three categories including completion rate, passing yards, and touchdowns. He also played a full season which was also a first for him apart from the dazzling feats achieved.
Grier also mentioned that the quarterback has “grown” in areas as his development has been fundamental to his individual accomplishments as well as the team’s.
