Liam Rosenior: Hull City manager ‘furious’ with draw against Birmingham
Hull City boss Liam Rosenior said their draw with Birmingham left him the angriest he has been since taking over 16 months ago.
The sixth-placed Tigers dominated but had to settle for a point after Lukas Jutkiewicz’s late leveller for the visitors.
“This is the most angry I’ve been because we’ve thrown points away,” he told BBC Radio Humberside.
“I’m really disappointed as we should have been out of sight at half-time.”
Rosenior added: “There was a lack of ruthlessness from the positions we got into and this isn’t the first time. I’m not throwing anyone under the bus, it’s me included, we have to be more ruthless.
“I was furious at half-time because we should have been 3-0 up and the game should have been done. I told them to make sure we won the second half to nil.
“If you are not ruthless and don’t take your chances then you will be punished in the Championship.”
A third successive draw means the Tigers will drop out of the play-off places if Norwich win at out-of-sorts Middlesbrough on Wednesday.
Hull host league leaders Leicester on Saturday, looking to improve a record of just one win in their past five home games in the Championship.
Rosenior, who is looking to lead the club to the Premier League for the first time since 2016-17, warned his side risk blowing the chance to achieve “something special”.
“We’re still in a really strong position but if we do not learn our lesson, me included, we will throw away an incredible opportunity to do something special this year,” he said.
“We’re into the final 10 games now, if we do not show that we have learned our lessons from the previous 36 games then our time will pass us by.
“There’s once all season, Ipswich away, where a team has been miles better than us. We have a very good team here but the frustration is we should have more points and be better off than we are.”
