Jaguars Have Reportedly Made A Decision About Josh Allen
The Jacksonville Jaguars have their very own Josh Allen, and he’s also a superstar.
Star edge rusher Josh Allen could be one of the most sought-after players in the league if he were to become a free agent, and the team cannot afford that.
That’s why, according to a report by Dan Graziano of ESPN, they could place him under the franchise tag if they’re unable to strike a deal for a contract extension soon
Notably, this isn’t much of a surprise, as reports had also stated that he was ‘largely expected’ to be tagged last week.
Should that happen and should he agree, Allen would get $24 million next season.
The 26-year-old is coming off the best year of his career.
He logged 17.5 sacks, 66 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 33 quarterback hits, two force fumbles, one pass defensed, and one interception.
That was good for career highs in sacks, tackles for loss, and QB hits.
Both sides have gone back and forth in negotiations for a long-term extension, but they’ve been vocal about their desire to get a deal done at some point.
Thus, placing him under the tag would give them more time to reach an agreement
The Jaguars are coming off a disappointing season, and they’ll look to come back stronger next year, especially now that they’ll have to face C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson twice a year, so they need to make sure to get their star pass rusher on the field
