More like it’ – Wrexham star Paul Mullin reacts after netting hat-trick against Accrington Stanley which lifted Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney’s side into automatic promotion spots
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 29-year-old frontman has found the going a little tougher this season, having made a delayed start to the campaign on the back of an unfortunate injury. He did not take in a first appearance until September, while Phil Parkinson has not been afraid to put his prolific No.10 on the bench.
HE BIGGER PICTURE
Mullin went eight games without a goal prior to finding the target against Forest Green Rovers, and followed that effort up with a treble in a 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley. He appears to be back in the groove, with form being found at just the right time.
WHAT MULLIN SAID
Wrexham will need to have Mullin firing on all cylinders over the coming weeks, and he is delighted to have rediscovered his shooting boots – with the win over Accrington that he claimed a match ball in lifting the Red Dragons back into third place in the League Two table.
WHAT NEXT FOR MULLIN?
Mullin’s last hat-trick for Wrexham came against Oldham on April 1, 2023 – one of four trebles he recorded last season. He has become a firm favourite of club co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with the hope being that another promotion party will be thrown in 2024.
