Erol Bulut already has a plan for Cardiff City forward next season and says he will offer something very different
The Bluebirds boss has spoken about one player who he will have in the fold next term
Erol Bulut has said Cardiff City will benefit from Isaak Davies’ season out on loan and the striker will offer real positivity for the Bluebirds next season.
Davies was on the periphery of the first XI in the summer and it was decided by all parties that he would reap the rewards from a year out on loan. And that has certainly proved to be the case.
Davies is enjoying his best season in front of goal to date, netting six times for Belgian strugglers KV Kortrijk. He is, in fact, the highest-scoring Cardiff City player on the books this year – he just happens not to be playing for the Bluebirds right now.
There was some talk over whether Bulut would recall the 22-year-old in January, but the club opted to leave him out in Kortrijk so Cardiff would have a more fully-formed striker at their disposal next season.
Bulut himself doesn’t know whether he will be back at Cardiff next term, with his one-year contract up in the summer and still no sign of that being extended. However, if he is in situ, Bulut believes the return of Davies will help the club’s firepower next term.
“It’s important to have loan players away, so the season for them it would maybe be a little bit difficult for them to be in the team (at Cardiff). That’s why we send them to get them a better level back for the next season,” Bulut said.
“I don’t know if Cardiff have had so much players out on loan to then have back, like (Joel) Bagan, Davies, Eli King. They are doing well and we are following them.
“So in the new season, everybody starts from zero. So, they have to show themselves to be in the team so that we can use them for the next season. Davies is doing really well in Kortrijk and I think in the new season he will be helpful for Cardiff City.”
Cardiff’s strike force of Kion Etete, Famara Diedhiou and Yakou Meite are all broadly similar in statue, albeit there are slight differences to their game.
But there is no doubt that Davies, a rapid striker who likes to pull defences and run in behind, is a different prospect all together. Bulut added: “He is a quick, skilful striker. You can use him has a second striker, you can use him as a winger. I think, for the new season, he can be a positive one for Cardiff.
