Next James Harrison? Steelers Sign Former Ravens Reserve LB

This is one sequel the Baltimore Ravens don’t feel like seeing. Per multiple reports, the rival Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Ravens linebacker Jeremiah Moon to a one-year, $915,000 deal on Monday. Moon had been stationed on the Ravens’ roster for each of the last two seasons but had been released while the team made playoff moves. Pittsburgh claimed him off waivers shortly after and now officially has him under contract for the 2024 campaign with an exclusive rights deal.

Moon, an undrafted entrant out of Florida, played eight games for Baltimore last season, amassing 12 tackles in that span. He took on a larger role when the Ravens rested their starters during the final weekend of the regular season, which ironically came against the Steelers. Moon would put up four tackles and a forced fumble in a 17-10 Pittsburgh win that indirectly clinched a playoff spot. Over the summer, Moon also had an impact in the final days of Baltimore’s uncanny preseason success, putting up 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks in six appearances.

While Moon’s departure is far from an immediate game-changer in the AFC North , comparisons can certainly be made to the story of Steelers legend and Baltimore haunter James Harrison. Harrison, who became one of the most accomplished names in the lauded defensive history of the Steelers, never played a regular season game for the Ravens but represented the team during his stay with NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire in 2004. Only time will tell if Moon winds up repeating history.
