Nottingham Forest should land ‘transfer ban’ after new FFP ‘outcry’ – ex-Premier League CEO
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed Nottingham Forest should land a transfer ban or fine as punishment if found guilty of their Financial Fair Play breaches.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted he would look to make the financial rules fairer if he were in charge of the top flight.
Forest were charged with breaching Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) rules in January with the club allegedly exceeding their £61million allowable losses over three years up to the end of last season.
That loss can almost certainly be attributed to their transfer window exploits, which saw them bring in no less than 30 players in the 2022-23 campaign following promotion.
Everton have already been found guilty of a similar breach and (pending appeal) were slapped with a 10-point deduction earlier this season which has plunged them into relegation danger.

The Toffees were also charged with a separate breach alongside Forest and both sides will find out the verdict on those cases before the end of this season.
“A points deduction is just such a draconian measure and it goes way beyond what the punishment is intended for.
“I think this season has got to be a turning point for financial punishments in the Premier League. There’s been such an outcry about this.”
