Norwich City: Angus Gunn’s Blackburn Rovers reaction

Angus Gunn knows Norwich City’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers was a missed opportunity, but is remaining positive about their play-off hopes.

Coventry, Hull, West Brom and Sunderland all failed to win in a crucial round of Championship fixtures, but the Canaries’ stalemate with struggling Blackburn meant the gap to the top six remained at three points.

That was a frustration within the City dressing room after the full-time whistle, but with 10 games to go Gunn believes there’s plenty of time to catch up.

“We’ve said in the dressing room, we felt like this the other week at QPR as well,” he said. “It is disappointing, especially when you’ve just come off the pitch.

“But obviously away from home you might look back on it as a positive result. We’ve not lost too many games since the turn of the year, so I’m very happy about that.

“You never really know until the end of the season, so we’ll have to wait and see. We’ve learned lessons from last year; there were plenty of times that we were written off and looked out of it, and a few weeks later we were back in it again.

“So we know, with three games coming up thick and fast, that things can change really quickly. We’ll be focusing on ourselves and hopefully carrying on the positive performances.”

The Scottish international has had an eye on recent results in the promotion race, and says other side’s drop points, as well as his own’s favourable run-in, mean that opportunity knocks.

“It’s very interesting,” he continued. “I think it would have been massive if we’d got the win today, but at the same time we’re still only three points off it.

“We’ve got a few home games coming up, where our form and our points tally have been very positive.

“So we can pick up good results at Carrow Road next week, and then go away to Middlesbrough and get a positive result, we’ll be in with a good shout.”
