He’s not put a foot wrong since swapping Coventry City for Rovers at the end of last month and John Eustace has been equally impressed by Kyle McFadzean’s impact on the squad.

In for a debut in our last home game against Stoke City, it was a battling and bruising encounter against the Potters for McFadzean, who ended the game with a bandage around his head.

He’s featured in every match since as Rovers have switched to a back three, with the experienced centre-back marshalling and organising a defence that has been more resilient and solid than in the weeks and months prior to his arrival.

“It’s very evident that his leadership qualities are there for all to see,” Eustace said to RoversTV when saluting the veteran’s early displays in Rovers colours.

“He was in the play-off final last season for Coventry, he’s a top professional and it rubs off on all the players around him.

“He leads by example and it’s not just for the younger players because he keeps the older players in check as well.

“That’s why he’s playing at such a high level at 36. It gives those players a subtle reminder of how to lead your life and the responsibilities that they have.

“We’re very fortunate to have him in our squad.”
