Home tickets for Frank Rothwell’s return to Boundary Park have sold out!

Tickets were snapped up after the club reduced admission to £1 for the special occasion.

Rothwell, who will address the crowd at 2.45pm, has so far raised more than £300,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK, and all gate receipts from the fixture will be donated to the charity, with other options to donate on the day of the game

There will be a Fan Zone outside the Joe Royle Stand – open from 11am – with food stalls, as well as DJ Wayne Williams, a children’s penalty shootout competition, face painter, special tattoo station and more.

In addition, fans’ group The Athleticos are encouraging all supporters to bring a scarf to hold aloft and make an incredible noise for Rothwell’s return.

A club spokesman said: “There promises to be a fantastic atmosphere inside Boundary Park as we welcome back chairman Frank Rothwell from his incredible achievement of crossing across the Atlantic Ocean.

“We’d like to thank loyal club sponsors, Rowan Ashworth Ltd, for their kind donation of tickets which will enable local grassroots teams and young people of Mahdlo Youth Zone the opportunity to experience what will be a fantastic day.”

The crowd for this game is lower than the capacity of the stadium due to segregation and ongoing maintenance in some areas.

Turnstiles will be open from 1.30pm on the day of the game and supporters are encouraged to arrive early to avoid congestion when entering the ground and ensure they sit in the seat marked on their ticket.
