Exeter City expecting big things from Millenic Alli when he makes debut

Gary Caldwell is expecting big things from winter signing Millenic Alli, but Exeter City supporters will have to be patient in waiting for the exciting attacker to be given his Grecians debut. The 24-year-old Irishman joined the club for an undisclosed fee from National League side AFC Halifax Town at the end of January, but is yet to feature after arriving in Devon with an injury.

The pacy frontman is back in full training, and has been for the last few weeks, but despite being available for selection, Caldwell wants to give Alli time to settle in at St James Park and get used to playing with his new team-mates befor eunleashing him on League One defences.

Caldwell also has a full hand to select from for tomorrow’s clash with Fleetwood Town meaning places have to be earned and not given in the matchday squad.

“Everyone is fine. All the players that have been out are working back to fitness, Ads (Muskwe) has been training well and building up his minutes, Mille has also been training well and building up his minutes, so we have a full squad which is great,” Caldwell said. “It’s nice to have so many players out on the grass and so many options to pick from.

“We have to be patient with Mille. He obviously came from two leagues below, but he came in with an injury as well, so what I don’t want to do is rush him and put him out on the pitch when he is not 100 per-cent fit and he hasn’t had that time with the players on the grass to understand his team-mates.
