Teoscar Hernández Bringing Joy, Building Camaraderie in Dodgers Camp
The Los Angeles Dodgers added star power this past offseason. Lots of it.
While it’s up to the players to come through on the field, building chemistry and camaraderie off the field to get to that mountaintop is just as important.
Many Dodgers, including their newest slugger, outfielder Teoscar Hernández, are doing their part in that category. Earlier this week, Roberts called Hernández a “joy.” And on Wednesday, he had even more praise for the 31-year-old outfielder.
Hernández is going to bring that spark on and off the field. In recent videos, he’s been seen getting along with other Dodgers, including Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. On Wednesday, he was teaching Ohtani and Yamamoto Spanish in a behind the scenes video from the Dodgers:
He’s doing his part off the field. Soon, he’ll need to do his part on the field as well. Hernández is a career .261 hitter with an .802 OPS. He’s coming off a 2023 season in Seattle in which he recorded a .741 OPS — .830 over the season’s final two months. He’s come to the right place to pick up where he left off and, more importantly, compete for a World Series.
The 31-year-old seems to be getting along just fine in Los Angeles.
