Watford Could Land Huge £43 Million Cash Boost This Summer

Watford star Yaser Asprilla has had an excellent season so far under head coach Valerien Ismael, garnering interest from some top clubs in the Premier League and in Europe, according to reports.

Having officially signed for the Hornets back in January 2022 for a mere £2.5 million following his move from Colombian outfit Envigado, the midfielder has gone on to become a first-choice player at Vicarage Road since the club were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Colombia international has primarily featured as an attacking midfielder for Watford, occasionally being utilised over on the right this term, making 31 appearances in all competitions under the French coach, while scoring six goals and recording five assists.

According to a report from Sport, European giants Barcelona are interested in signing the 20-year-old but face stiff competition from unnamed clubs in the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window.

Additionally, Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez is also claiming that La Blaugrana’s sporting director Deco has scouted Asprilla extensively and has been left impressed by his performances in England, particularly his ability to play on the flanks as well as centrally.

However, the major issue for suitors, as outlined by Sport is that Watford currently value the playmaker at between £34-43 million, which could be difficult for Barcelona as the club are in a tough financial position right now.

Nevertheless, Asprilla still has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his deal with the Hornets, meaning the club are in no rush to sell right now.
