At age 39, Joe Flacco doesn’t have much time left in his NFL career. But after a surprisingly good run with the Cleveland Browns, the quarterback can do much more if he finds himself back as a backup to Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.
Recently named the Comeback Player of the Year, Flacco blew everyone’s minds when he turned back time during his stint with the Browns last season. Signed just last November by Cleveland, the former New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens quarterback led the team to a 4-1 record by throwing 13 touchdown passes and recording eight interceptions.
As a result, the Browns found themselves in the playoffs with an 11-6 record and a second-place finish in the AFC North division. Although Cleveland fell at the hands of the Houston Texans in the wild card round, Flacco still performed well during his time with the team.

Thanks to his late-career resurgence, more eyes are now on Flacco as free agency is about to start. Cody Benjamin explains why the Jets and several other teams need to take a look at him for their backup QB needs in an article for CBS:

With Rodgers approaching the tail end of his own career, having Flacco as his backup is a good choice. After a stellar run with the Browns last season, the quarterback is a sensible choice with little downside attached to his name.
