Alan Shearer and Micah Richards make the same Gary O’Neil point after Wolves beat Tottenham
Latest Wolves news from BirminghamLive as pundits discuss the sensational victory over Spurs in the Premier League
Alan Shearer, Micah Richards and Gary Lineker have discussed Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Gary O’Neil’s side are now just three points off Brighton in seventh place in the Premier League. Joao Gomes scored twice in either half, while Dejan Kulusevski scored a consolation goal.
Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said: “What a job, what a performance, what a game, what a win. Not many people other than Wolves, Gary O’Neil and the team would have thought they would have gone there and beaten Spurs the way they did. From what I saw, they were brilliant and he’s done a great job.”
Richards then went on to say: “When you’ve got a manager who speaks very well and is clear in his plan…all the players have brought into what he’s trying to do and he’s playing attacking football.
“We’ve got to give so much credit to him. I always thought Wolves would be OK because they’ve got good players but to get them playing in this manner away at Spurs… They seem to be in every game. It’s not like it’s a one-off or they pull off a big result. Consistency is the key for me when I’m watching them. They always look like they can do something in the game.”
Meanwhile, Lineker concluded: “They’re only three points off what would conceivably be a European spot, seventh place.”
