Premier League have legal twist on mind after Everton appeal update

Dan Plumley has insisted that the Premier League will have legal developments on their minds as Everton awaits the answer to their appeal on the points deduction.

It has been suggested that a legal civil war is on the cards between top-flight clubs, with potential punishments to the Toffees and Nottingham Forest opening the floodgates.

The football finance expert admitted that with relegated clubs also threatening action, everything is up in the air as the Premier League “go after” clubs.

“I still think it must be on their radar,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“I think hence probably why, going back to the Everton situation, we will see some sort of points deduction stick because if you start charging and then completely change that charge, you run the risk of people saying ‘how can you govern that league if you’re not prepared to follow through on some of that?’, so I think we’ve seen some of that in the strengthening of the resolve of the Premier League to really go after clubs.

I know we’ve seen potential legal cases and clubs have spoken about that, and again, I think it needs a collective of clubs, it does take a lot of time and resources, and they will be looking at the bigger picture in the case of Leeds and Leicester, they’ve still got a job to do which is get back in the Premier League.
