Titans fill major need with playmaker in latest mock draft

Titans fill major need with dynamic playmaker in latest mock draft

The Titans could go several different ways with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and their selection will almost certainly depend on the six teams picking ahead of them.

However, ESPN’s Field Yates believes Tennessee could still land one of the best playmakers in this year’s class, according to his latest mock draft.

Yates has the Titans drafting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with pick No. 7.”The Titans have a clear and obvious need at wide receiver, and if the board plays out like this come April 25, I’d be floored if they pass on Odunze,” Yates writes. “The wideout hardly has a flaw in his game. He’s a pristine route runner, incredible after the catch, terrific in contested catch situations and Mr. Reliable with his hands.

QB Will Levis would likely love adding Odunze to the offense after he led the country in receiving yards (1,640) on 92 catches. He also found the end zone 13 times in 2023.

It’s important for Tennessee to add to Levis’ arsenal since the team didn’t have a wide receiver, outside of veteran DeAndre Hopkins, eclipse 30 catches or 425 yards this season.

Adding another playmaker like Odunze to pair with Hopkins next season feels almost necessary, especially for the development of Levis.

Odunze currently ranks as Pro Football Focus’ third-best wide receiver and the No. 7 overall prospect on its big board. The only two wide receivers who rank ahead of Odunze are Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 2) and LSU’s Malik Nabers (No. 4).

There’s no question Harrison Jr. will be the first wide receiver to hear his name called on Day 1. But there is an ongoing debate as to whether Nabers or Odunze will be drafted next.

If the Titans are hoping to land Odunze as they do in Yates’ latest mock draft, they should hope Nabers is the second off the board to give them the best chance of getting their guy.
