Baltimore Orioles Acquire Top Outfield Prospect in Trade With Marlins
Since Mike Elias has taken over as general manager of the Baltimore Orioles, he’s been known for elite draft picks and savvy pickups that’s turned their organization into of the most talented in Major League Baseball.
With the majority of these prospects ready to see MLB action, Elias will be tasked with making sure the pipeline stays filled with developing talent.

The better the farm system is, the more aggressive they can potentially become over the next few offseasons to chase some of the best players made available.
According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Orioles sent cash considerations to the Miami Marlins in exchange for Peyton Burdick, who was once one of their top outfield prospects.
The 26-year-old was selected in the third round of the 2019 draft by the Marlins and was named their Minor League Player of the Year in 2021 after hitting the most home runs (23) and recording the most walks (76) in a season in their Double-A affiliate’s history.
Burdick made his MLB debut in 2022.
Across 46 games the past two seasons, he posted a slash line of .200/.281/.368 with five home runs, 13 RBI and an OPS+ of 80.
While his time in the bigs hasn’t quite gone as planned, he’s a talented prospect, being ranked as a Top-15 player in the Marlins’ pipeline every year since 2020, and was their No. 2 outfield prospect in 2022.
Baltimore is getting another solid player they are adding to their developmental system.
If injuries hit their Major League roster hard this season, Burdick could be used since he already has experience playing at that level.
Even if he doesn’t play in the big leagues this year, Elias was able to land a talented prospect who gives the organization more depth.
