Huddersfield Town’s January transfer decision vindicated as talented defender impresses

Promising Huddersfield Town defender Brodie Spencer has put in a string of impressive performances since returning to the John Smith’s Stadium

Brodie Spencer admits it’s “great to be back” playing for Huddersfield Town with the defender having featured regularly for the Terriers following his recall from Motherwell.

The 19-year-old spent the first part of the campaign on loan with the Scottish Premiership outfit, but was brought back by Town at the beginning of last month

Prior to tonight’s game at home to Sunderland, Spencer has started all six of the Terriers’ matches since being recalled, and the defender is pleased to be playing his part in Town’s Championship survival bid.

“I’ve been finding it very good (being back at the club),” Spencer said at a recent press conference. “The lads have been very good with me since I’ve come back, just helping me take on board all the new instructions and styles of play, and helping me to adapt to the team basically, just obviously with being away for a few months. It’s great to be back in and playing and helping the team.

“I was a bit surprised (to be recalled), but I always knew even before I went to Motherwell, if I went up there and I did well, there would be a chance of getting recalled and being able to come back and fight for my spot in the team, which is obviously what’s happened. It sort of did come as a surprise, but at the same time I was expecting it as well.”
