“£2.5m or £3m” – Cardiff City urged to seal West Brom transfer

FLW’s Cardiff fan pundit has given his verdict on the future of Karlan Grant

Karlan Grant is currently enjoying a positive loan spell with Cardiff City.

The forward joined the Bluebirds on loan from West Brom during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old had fallen down the pecking order at the Hawthorns under Carlos Corberan, and made the switch in a bid to earn more consistent game time.

Grant has made 28 appearances in the Championship for the Welsh outfit, including 26 starts.

He has contributed four goals and two assists, with Erol Bulut’s team competing for a top six finish in the table, sitting seven points adrift of the play-offs in 14th.

Karlan Grant’s future at Cardiff City

FLW’s Cardiff City fan pundit Ben Johnsey believes that the club could look to complete a permanent transfer for Grant in the summer.

He has revealed the surprising ways in which the forward has impressed during his loan spell, but believes the Bluebirds won’t pay over the odds to complete a deal.

“I would very much be interested in seeing Cardiff pursue a permanent deal for Karlan Grant,” Johnsey told Football League World.

“He’s not quite the player I expected.

“You see his stats and think he’ll be a natural goal scorer.

“He’s not that, but he’s definitely shown to be more of an out-and-out winger than any Cardiff fan expected

“And it’s probably one of the biggest dangers in that Cardiff City attack, and has scored some important goals as well.

“He obviously signed for West Brom for quite a big fee, and has got a bit of time left on his deal, so it would have to be the right kind of deal for Cardiff.

“I don’t think you’d be wanting to spend any more than £2.5m or £3m but, around that price, I think most Cardiff fans would be happy to see him come in permanently.

“He is a hard worker compared to what a lot of the West Brom faithful were saying.
