SF Giants sign Jorge Soler to three-year contract - McCovey Chronicles

Dodgers’ NL West Rival Giants Agree to Deal With All-Star Jorge Soler: Report

The San Francisco Giants added a big bat to their lineup late Monday night. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants have agreed to a three-year deal with All-Star outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler.

Soler, 31, is coming off a dominant 2023 season that saw him reach the All-Star team for the first time in his career. As a member of the Miami Marlins, Soler slashed .250/.341/.512 with 36 home runs and 75 runs batted in.

Soler’s best season came in 2019 with the Kansas City Royals, when he played in all 162 games and slashed .265/.354/.569 with a career-high 48 home runs and 117 runs batted in.

Soler is a power-hitting, middle of the order lineup, and brings much needed pop to the Giants’ lineup. He joins outfielder Jung-Hoo Lee as the two biggest additions for San Francisco this offseason.

The Giants recently shed some salary when they traded former Dodgers All-Star Ross Stripling to the Oakland Athletics. They then turned around and used that money to sign one of the top remaining free agents on the market.

Soler has struggled in his career against the Dodgers, slashing .170/.267/.377 with three home runs in 60 plate appearances. He’ll be seeing them a lot more for the next three seasons.
