Sean Dyche confirms new Everton injury blow after Man City defeat

The Everton boss shared an update on the fitness of a number of players after the 2-0 loss to Manchester City

Arnaut Danjuma could be out for the rest of the month with an ankle injury suffered at Fulham.

The forward limped off the pitch in the final stages of last month’s goalless draw at Craven Cottage and has not yet returned to action. Sean Dyche is preparing for him to be unavailable for next week’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Speaking after two late Erling Haaland goals consigned Everton to a battling defeat, Dyche said he would be surprised to have Danjuma available in the next fortnight.

The Blues boss was, however, able to turn to Onana and Seamus Coleman, who has also struggled with injury over recent weeks, in the closing stages while he suggested Doucoure is making strides towards a comeback from a hamstring issue.

Dyche said: “I thought he [Onana] did well when he came on, he looked bright and he has looked bright around the place as he has been coming back from injury. Gana [Gueye] has worked ever so hard, Jimmy [Garner] again – two good performances there – and Seamus gets a few more minutes. We are beginning to get full fitness back. It is going to be important over the remaining games of the season. We will hopefully have better news during this week on Douc as well being out on the grass.”

Dyche is also without Andre Gomes while Ben Godfrey limped off in the second half at Manchester City.
