Bengals WR Tee Higgins Considers Playing For Tennessee Titans Ideal Like Going Back Home To A Family And Play For A Coach He’d Already Been Under
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, who will be a free agent this year, expressed his desire to play for the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan have created one of the best one of the league’s best offenses over the past five seasons.
The new coach of the Tennessee Titans is Brian Callahan, who served as the coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2023. Callahan served as offensive coordinator with the Bengals during Tee Higgins’ tenure.
Higgins is expected to leave the Bengals this offseason because he, Joe Burrow and wide receiver Jamaal Chase are overpaid.
In an interview with Bleacher Report, Higgins explained what it means to him that the Bengals want him back with the team.
“It means a lot,”
Higgins told Bleacher Report while discussing the quarterback with a receiver who said he wanted to come back even if he hits free agency this year.
During the same conversation, Chase explained that Higgins needed money. Although Chase joked he wanted to join this season, he said he would have to wait for other receivers to set the market.
“Who knows what will ultimately happen,”
the LSU product told Bleacher Report when discussing the possibility.
Higgins is part of the 2020 draft class that transformed the Bengals’ roster. Higgins had over 900 yards in his first season with the Bengals, the only time in 16 games that he didn’t pass for 1,000 yards.
Higgins had 3,684 receiving yards and 24 receptions during his four-year career.
Either the team focuses on Chase or Chase gets hurt, Higgins will have a big role for the Bengals.
In his rookie year, he played in 74.8% of regular season games, the highest percentage ever recorded by the Bengals in a single season.
Whether Higgins decides to stay with the Tigers or go elsewhere, he will have a huge impact on NFL offenses.
His strong hands and ability to jump the ball made him a top receiver for many NFL teams.
The Cincinnati Bengals have been spoiled with a ton of talent acquisitions over the past few years.
While Ja’Marr Chase is undisputed, Tee Higgins is the No. 1 player.
The league’s No. 2 outfielder, the 25-year-old wide receiver has 257 catches for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
However, his season in Cincinnati is over, he’s a free agent, and he’s now tied.
During the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast in Las Vegas, Higgins discussed his disappointment when former coordinator Brian Callahan left Cincinnati.
“He helped me a lot,”
Higgins said of Callahan. He’s a great coach and person and one of the best coaches in the league.
Higgins, who grew up in Tennessee, was also asked how he felt about bringing Callahan to Tennessee as a free agent this year.
“It would be good,”
Higgins said.
“Going back home to family and being able to play for a coach I’ve already been under, it would be ideal.”
