Green Bay Packers Expected To Add Massive Help For Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers have to be excited for what they saw in Jordan Love in 2023.  So much so that it has already been reported that they are expecting to extend Love this off-season.

The Packers ended their season in a heartbreaking manner, but the future looks brighter than ever.

In the aftermath of Aaron Rodgers’ trade to the New York Jets, many expected the team to struggle in the NFL. In the end, however, the Packers surprised everyone by rising to the challenge and being one of the final four teams left standing in the NFC.  Now they could be adding some major help for Love and this offense.

Green Bay Packers Pegged To Add Huge Help For Jordan Love On Offense

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report highlighted how this could happen:

Saints Receive: 2024 first-round pick (No. 25 overall), 2024 third-round pick (No. 91 overall), 2024 sixth-round pick (No. 203 overall)

Packers Receive: 2024 first-round pick (No. 14 overall)

As noted in the David Bakhtiari trade suggestion, the Packers have a real need at left tackle this offseason. Bakhtiari has been a great player, but the injuries have made him unreliable. While it’s pretty rare for the Packers to take an offensive player in the first round or trade up, the need at tackle could be an exception.

The Packers have benefitted from having an excellent offensive line for a long time. Bakhtairi’s play at left tackle has been a part of that more often than not.

Finding an answer in free agency will be difficult. The Packers would be better off utilizing the draft to find Love’s long-term blindside protector, but they might have to jump up in the draft order to find their guy.

Making the move from No. 25 to No. 14 would require some draft capital, but the Packers have a good stockpile. According to Tankathon’s power rankings, Green Bay has the fifth-best haul of picks in this year’s draft.

That could be of particular interest to the New Orleans Saints. They are constantly cutting things close to the cap and could benefit from more players on rookie contracts. They also don’t have a third- or fourth-round pick right now.

This trade would give them a third-rounder while putting the Packers in a better position to draft a left tackle prospect over a few other tackle-needy teams in the middle of the first round. Options like Kings Suamataia or Tyler Guyton could be the target for such a move.

Who Is Kingsley Suamataia?

Bleacher Report broke down his game in detail.  In BYU’s zone-based run scheme, Suamataia is a two-year starter in the RPO-heavy, balanced (52-48 split between run and pass). In addition to having a broad, thick build and good arm length, he also has big hands and an easy way of moving around.

When it comes to pass protection, Suamataia has a very good quickness out of his stance, and he has the range to carry rushers up the arc to protect the corner. When he initiates contact, he uses an inside hand to strike and widen rushers outside, after which he uses a light outside hand to bait rushers.

He has the foundation to play on an island in the NFL because he drifts and oversets to create a soft inside shoulder and plays upright so he can access his frame quickly against speed and power.
