Jon Dahl Tomasson’s future at Blackburn Rovers is in serious doubt amid claims he is set to leave – while the club insists he hasn’t been sacked nor resigned.

Tomasson has grown increasingly frustrated at Ewood Park and has already revealed this week that he offered to walk away last summer following a change in the club’s budget. His mood darkened last week when an ‘administrative error’ meant a deadline day move for United States striker Duncan McGuire hangs in the balance.

On the pitch, a run of one win in 11 has seen Blackburn slump towards the wrong end of the Championship table and it is a huge match on Saturday afternoon against Stoke City, who sit one point behind and also in desperate need for form and confidence.

But the Daily Mail now reports that Tomasson has told players his time is up – although the Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers insist Tomasson is still manager. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop ahead of this weekend.

BBC Lancashire reporter Andy Bayes wrote on X: “As it stands Jon Dahl Tomasson remains under contract with Blackburn Rovers. I’m not expecting an (sic) statement imminently.”
