With the final goodbye in sight, Evertonians have fallen in love with Goodison Park all over again - Royal Blue Mersey

The Premier League are planning to do something which proves their treatment of Everton is wrong

Everton’s treatment at the hands of the Premier League has been nothing short of a farce.

The fanbase have done all they can to make their feelings known on the matter, which saw them deducted ten points in November before a second alleged breach was revealed just last month.

And, as if Evertonians’ fury could not get any greater, this latest plan from the English top flight is set to tip most over the edge.

What are the Premier League planning to do?

Evertonians To Have Say On Future Of Football

As reported by Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, the Premier League actually has plans to scrap their profit and sustainability rules this summer, seeking to change them to a system closely resembling UEFA’s FFP model.

It is a truly laughable turn of events, in which they are essentially admitting that their current set of guidelines are not fit for purpose.

And yet, they are the ones being used to justify Everton’s punishment, the harshest points deductions in top-flight history.

Solhekol claimed: ‘I think it is going to be controversial, it’s going to be discussed at this meeting. There won’t be a vote but it’s definitely the direction we’re travelling in.’

The manner in which the Premier League have dealt with Everton’s supposed transgressions has been half-hearted and farcical, with rules thrown together at the eleventh hour to justify their weak claims against them.

The Toffees had admitted to a breach of their profit and sustainability rules, but the scale of the punishment that followed is what has drawn widespread scorn.

After all, according to their ruling, the crime committed by Farhad Moshiri is supposedly worse than were he to have made hundreds redundant by entering the club into administration.

Through showing a little bit of ambition, marked by some admittedly terrible player acquisitions and the construction of a new stadium, Everton has actually been reprimanded.

777 Message to Evertonians' an encouraging start amidst underlying concerns - Royal Blue Mersey

What kind of a message does this send to the rest of the division, many of whom will have grand ambitions of one day breaking the monopoly held at the apex of the league?

Don’t bother, or else be put back in your place.

This touted rule change only adds to the frustration though, as it would arguably reinforce this notion even more. Not only that, but to make the alteration after charging Everton alongside the old rules is the real joke.

The Premier League are losing all credibility, and throughout this process has let its mask slip. A power-hungry organisation is all they are, but that power could well wane should Everton achieve success in their appeal.
