Nuno Espirito Santo has already faced plenty of challenges in the short time he has been in charge of Nottingham Forest.

A combination of injuries, suspensions and unavailability will impact Nuno’s team selection for Wednesday night. He will be without Chris Wood, Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez, Matz Sels, Gio Reyna, Rodrigo Ribeiro, Ola Aina, Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare, while Callum Hudson-Odoi is a doubt and there is uncertainty over Divock Origi’s fitness.

Additionally, Taiwo Awoniyi and Anthony Elanga are still working their way back to full fitness after lengthy spells on the sidelines. Nuno is not one for feeling sorry for himself, but he admits it is difficult to get to know his best team when Forest have been unable to develop any kind of continuity in selection.

“It has been difficult. It has been a challenge for us because we honestly believe that routines are good for us and we haven’t been able to have the routine of repeating the same team over and over again,” he said. When you have that, it gives us the best understanding of each other. Hopefully the future will be better.
