Tonight’s Cardiff City news as chief explains what happened with Kieffer Moore and loan man makes big impression

These are your Cardiff City headlines on Monday, February 5.

Dalman explains Moore situation

Cardiff City chief Mehmet Dalman has explained what happened with the club’s effort to sign Kieffer Moore in the January transfer window.

The Bluebirds had made no secret of the fact they wanted to bring Moore back to Cardiff City Stadium, with game-time coming at a premium for the striker at Bournemouth. Manager Erol Bulut wanted to sign him and there appeared a will to get a deal done, should the Cherries be willing to sanction it.

In the end, however, Moore ended up heading back to another former club, Ipswich Town, for whom he scored a brace at the weekend in the Tractor Boys’ 3-2 defeat at

Dalman has now revealed how it all played out. “I think his club wanted him to go elsewhere and I think he had the final say,” he told the BBC.

“We were given guidelines on what our bids should be, we put our bids in and remained hopeful right until the last minute.

“Both the club and player decided, and we need to respect that decision, life goes on.”

The Bluebirds were able to bring in six new faces over the course of the month, and although Dalman concedes things were a bit “last minute” he says they are happy with their lot.

“It was left late and until the very end,” he said. “We had our targets and those targets evolved over the period of 30 days, we’re very happy with the players we managed to get in.

“I accept the fact that it was all left last minute, but that’s the nature of the transfer window.”

As for the future of Bulut, which looked a tad shaky following his comments after the defeat to Plymouth Argyle last month, Dalman once again assured fans there is no need for concern.

“Erol is relaxed about it, as are we,” he said ahead of the 1-0 away win at Watford at the weekend.

“Our dialogue continues, there’s no concern at the moment, I trust him and I know he’ll give us his best efforts.”

Dalman added: “I talk to Erol almost daily, he’s fine. He just gets a bit frustrated, as we all do.”
