Stoke City in 11th hour transfer link to Dutch winger
Stoke City transfer news and gossip heading into transfer deadline day
Stoke City are being linked with a deadline day swoop for Vitesse Arnhem winger – and Wouter Burger and Ki-Jana Hoever’s Netherlands youth teammate – Million Manhoef.
The Dutch press is tonight suggesting that Stoke and Serie B promotion chasers Palermo have got the 22-year-old firmly on their radars heading into the last day of mid-season business. It is claimed that Vitesse have been desperate to keep hold of the player to help their bid to stay in the top flight – but the cash-strapped club “needs at least 5 million euros” to survive the season and Manhoef is valued at around 4m euros.
This is his fourth season in Vitesse’s senior ranks, scoring 16 times in 88 appearances, and he has mostly played on the right this term with a willingness to take on his defender, cut inside onto his stronger left foot and create chances. He is in the top five players in the division in terms of successful dribbles per game.
