Cowboys Coach Likely To Become Commanders Head Coach After Ben Johnson Snub According To Report

The Washington Commanders appear to finally have a frontrunner for their head coaching vacancy.

Earlier this week, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson announced that he was staying in Detroit despite being heavily recruited by the Commanders.

“Ben Johnson has made the decision to stay in Detroit. For weeks this option was always on the table. The Commanders knew they weren’t a lock and have been operating with this information.”

According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, the Commanders will now set their sights on Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Campbell to become their next head coach.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed that Quinn impressed the Commanders during this week’s interview process.

“Dan Quinn seems to be a really strong candidate in Washington after impressive interviews there.”

The Commanders have yet to announce who their new head coach is going to be but it seems like Quinn is a lock at this point.

The next curveball was Ben Johnson deciding he did not want any of the remaining jobs when he seemed to be a shoo-in as the Washington Commanders’ new head coach.

As has been reported, Commanders officials were flying to Detroit for a final meeting and were ready to make Johnson their head coach when they received word he would be staying with the Lions this season.

Now the Commanders are the team still searching for a head coach. The belief is Dan Quinn, who lost out on the Seattle Seahawks job to Mike McDonald as I alluded to on Sunday, will end up as the head coach.
