Nottingham Forest make ‘counter-proposal’ of €30m to sell player – Club €10m or so away from that for now

Nottingham Forest have made a ‘counter-proposal’ to Lyon for midfielder Orel Magala for €30m, turning down their initial €20m offer for the midfielder.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that the French side are €10m or so away from getting a deal done before the end of the window.

Mangala has been heavily linked with a move away from Nottingham Forest for much of this month, with the club seemingly keen to sell and him not a part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.

Clubs around Europe have shown an interest in him, the latest of which is Lyon, who are keen to get a deal done to strengthen their squad as they battle against relegation from Ligue 1.

Tavolieri reports that conversations were held between them and Nottingham Forest on Monday evening and were focused on a figure of around €20m. indeed that was the proposal put forward by Lyon.

However, Nottingham Forest responded to that offer on Tuesday morning with a ‘counter-proposal’ of a package worth around €30m. That was a drop from the €35m previously suggested.

Thus, Lyon are around €10m short of their valuation for now and so negotiations continue between the two sides, with it very much a wait and see situation in the dying days of the window.
