Mellon woe as Oldham’s winning run ends at home to Woking
Disappointed Oldham Athletic boss Micky Mellon said his side only had themselves to blame for a four-game winning run coming to a juddering halt at home to battling Woking.

“There was an opportunity for us to keep moving forward today, but at the end of the day we weren’t good enough to do that.
“It’s disappointing, especially with the way we played on Tuesday, but we never really got going at any stage. We never passed it and never competed enough.
“A really bad day for us, we just never got going. We didn’t really get going from the start, didn’t string any passes together, we lost too many headers and loose balls which you need pick up in a game like that, and didn’t really make any kind of impact. We lacked a bit of spark, it all looked a wee bit laboured.”
And Mellon said it was hard to pinpoint a reason for the cause of their malaise.
“For what reason I don’t know because we had them well rested, we didn’t overdo it, and we haven’t done any travelling,” he said.
“It’s hard to think that was going to happen before the game because I thought we were hopefully moving away from that a little bit but as we continually keep saying it’s a long process to find that consistency that’s going to be needed to keep us moving forward.
