Premier League club are now expecting 26-year-old to leave this month, after Leeds United make offer
Leeds United now have just three days to complete any remaining transfer business.
The Whites are yet to make any new signings so far in the January window and time is very much against them if they want to strengthen the squad before Thursday night’s deadline.
Defence very much remains the main priority for Leeds over the next 72 hours, and given how close they reportedly came to signing to Daiki Hashioka, they are working hard to get something done.
One name which continues to be bubbling away is Everton’s Ben Godfrey, who would provide Leeds with Premier League quality and versatility if he was to move to Elland Road.
And now there is now a new update in Leeds’ pursuit of the 26-year-old, with iNews reporting that Everton are expecting to let both him and Michael Keane go, after Sean Dyche’s green light.
Leeds target Godfrey expected to leave
Leeds are expected to face fierce competition from across Europe for Godfrey but it would appear that Daniel Farke’s side are the ones pushing hardest for him at this stage.
The Whites are said to have made a loan bid for Godfrey, but one major stumbling block to that is Everton would prefer to sell him, rather than let him go temporarily.
However, Leeds would reportedly be willing to include an obligation-to-buy, though it remains to be seen whether that is something Everton deem as acceptable.
As mentioned, Godfrey would be a huge signing for Leeds with his ability to play in all positions across a back four a major plus point given the current lack of depth at the back.
Godfrey is also already familiar with Leeds boss Farke having worked under him at Norwich City earlier in his career. Hopefully this will be key to getting a deal over the line.
