Daniel Farke reveals reason for Crysencio Summerville absence for Leeds United v Plymouth Argyle in FA Cup

Daniel Farke has revealed that Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville was unavailable for their FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle due to injury.

Phil Hay reported via X on Saturday (27 January) that Summerville was unavailable for the 1-1 draw due to an issue with an adductor muscle, having not been spotted arriving at Elland Road before kick-off.

The hope is that the in-form winger will be back in training next week and in contention to face Bristol City on Friday (2 February), as per Hay.

Leeds United

Not helpful

The 22-year-old forward has been a sensation for the Whites this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting a further seven in all competitions. His partnership with Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Dan James has helped Leeds to shoot to fourth in the Championship table.

Without him in attack, Leeds were kept at bay for most parts of the match and will now need to fit an FA Cup replay into an already busy schedule.

Leeds United

This is the last thing that Leeds fans wanted, with a busier schedule meaning a higher demand from their players and a higher risk of injury, evidenced by Summerville’s absence against Plymouth.

The Dutchman has played in 26 of the Whites’ 29 league matches this season, becoming one of the most undroppable players in the entire Championship, let alone at Elland Road.

His replacement against Plymouth, Jaidon Anthony, did well to fill the Summerville-sized hole on the left flank, scoring just his second-ever Leeds goal. However, it was evident that Farke’s star man was missing and Leeds now have an extra game to play down at Home Park.
