Dallas wants to deliver promotion for Oldham Athletic

Andrew Dallas says they ambition of Oldham Athletic was a major factor in his move to Boundary Park.

The striker this week completed a loan deal to the end of the season, dropping down two divisions from League One Barnsley, having spent the first half of the season in the Scottish Premiership with Kilmarnock.

But the National League is familiar territory for the 24-year-old, who has twice reached the play-off final with both Solihull Moors and Chesterfield.

He is determined to go one better this time and restore Latics’ Football League status.

“I’m delighted to get in the door. I’d actually not been to the stadium before but I’m really impressed with the stadium and the size of the club. I knew it was a big club before I came here,” said the Scot.

“The manager and the size of the club, I feel like it’s a club going in the right direction.

“It’s obviously had a few years of being a bit tougher but now it’s going in the right direction so I feel like it’s the perfect time to hopefully push up the table and win the play-offs now so hopefully it’s a strong end to the season.”

And Dallas, who could make his debut in Saturday’s home game against Woking, is hoping to bring all of his experience to make that happen.

“I know the league fairly well. I’ve played in the play-offs already so that’s all experience so hopefully I can add to the changing room,” added Dallas in an interview with the club.

“There are already boys there who have gone and done it. The manager, the club, the chairman, have built a squad that’s got that experience and hopefully we can all just bring it to the forefront and push on.

“It just shows how tough the league is because you see massive clubs like ourselves almost – no disrespect – too big for the league with the history and the fanbase, so it’s just putting that right and hopefully getting us out of the
