Why new Huddersfield Town arrival Radinio Balker will miss crunch Blackburn Rovers clash

Huddersfield Town boss Darren Moore will be unable to call upon Radinio Balker for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers

New Huddersfield Town signing Radinio Balker will miss their clash at Blackburn Rovers owing to a “serious bout of illness”. The Dutch centre-back was brought in from FC Groningen for an undisclosed fee on Thursday, with the 25-year-old penning a three-and-a-half year contract with the Terriers.

However, the defender has been ruled out of making his debut in their fixture at Ewood Park, with the centre-back having picked up an illness that has swept through the FC Groningen camp.

The Dutch side were forced to postpone their fixture at FC Emmen that was due to go ahead on Friday evening owing to the scale of illness that has impacted their squad, and with Balker being one of the players affected, he won’t be able to play for his new club tomorrow afternoon.

“Radinio’s arrived from Groningen with a serious bout of illness. You’ll probably read that the game got called off tonight with Groningen when they were [due to be] playing, and he was part of that,” said Terriers manager Darren Moore at his press conference on Friday morning.

“He’s arrived here and he’s been ill, so he won’t be considered for the weekend, but that’s something that happened upon his arrival here. If you search tonight’s game, you’ll see that the whole game’s been called off, because the whole squad has been affected by the illness.
