Armando Broja returns to Chelsea after two days of training with Albania - We Ain't Got No History

Premier League club exploring move to sign 22-year-old from Chelsea, his future hinges on one thing

Wolverhampton Wanderers have set their sights on a move for Chelsea’s Armando Broja during the January transfer window.

That is according to fresh speculation this week.

Armando Broja, 22, is currently struggling to make the desired impact at Stamford Bridge

The centre-forward’s only scored two goals in 17 games across all competitions so far this season, so there’s now some talk in the transfer rumour mill about a potential exit this month.

The Guardian claimed yesterday that Premier League side Wolves are considering a swoop for Broja.

It is understood that Wolves’ interest is still in its ‘exploratory stage’, but it’s more than likely any move would be on a temporary basis. In fact, Gary O’Neill’s side would prefer a loan transfer with an option to buy in the summer window.

The report shared that London rivals West Ham have been long-term admirers of the Chelsea youngster. Italian clubs Napoli and AC Milan looked at the 22-year-old in the past, too.

In addition, the likelihood of Broja leaving Stamford Bridge in January hinges on whether or not Chelsea sign a new striker in the window.

With Nicolas Jackson away at the Africa Cup of Nations, plus Christopher Nkunku’s current absence through another injury, Broja is filling in as Chelsea’s main centre-forward. Cole Palmer can slot in as a false nine, too.

This feels like a really tough decision to make with Broja.

If Chelsea find a realistic way to bring a proven goalscorer to the club, they shouldn’t hesitiate to do so!

However, we fear Broja’s game time will become really limited if a new frontman arrives.

Our preference may be for the Albania international to exit on a straight loan deal in this scenario. Incidentally, we see Wolves as a great fit for his development.

It’s worth remembering that GiveMeSport claimed last month that Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino does still have a lot of faith in Broja’s quality moving forward.
