Phillies agree to terms with 4 arbitration eligible players, will exchange salary figures with Alec Bohn

The Phillies announced Thursday night that they have agreed to terms with four arbitration eligible players: Ranger Suárez, Jeff Hoffman, Gregory Soto and Edmundo Sosa.

The team will exchange salary figures with Alec Bohm, who is in his first season of arbitration eligibility.

Sosa’s deal is worth $1.7 million, according to the Inquirer’s Scott Lauber. Soto’s deal is for $5 million, according to Ari Alexander of KPRC Houston.

Earlier in the day, the Phillies agreed to deals with starting pitcher Ranger Suárez and relief pitcher Jeff Hoffman. Suárez’s deal is worth $5.05 million while Hoffman signed for $2.2 million, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

If Bohm and the Phillies cannot agree on a 2024 salary within the next few weeks, the two sides will go to a hearing in front of three independent panelists. The two sides can come to an agreement at any time between now and the scheduled hearing, which would occur during spring training.

Failing to come to an agreement by the deadline is typically not a big deal. The Phillies are not known to be a “file-and-trial” team, meaning they are sometimes willing to meet in the middle with players and come to an agreement before the hearing.
