The Bluebirds are keen to bolster their striker stable in this window and manager Erol Bulut has admitted interest in Fenerbahce striker Umut Nayir and Bournemouth’s Kieffer Moore.

McAtee has enjoyed a fruitful first half of the campaign on loan at League One Barnsley, where he has netted nine times and assisted another three goals in his 22 appearances across all competitions.

Tsunoda exit confirmed

Reports in Japan have claimed defender Ryotaro Tsunoda is heading to Cardiff after being released by Yokohama F. Marinos.

The centre-back, who last year received a call-up to the Japan national team, has left the Japanese club to take an opportunity overseas and it is claimed the Bluebirds are a possible destination. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

“We would like to inform you that player Ryotaro Tsunoda decided to leave the team in order to negotiate and prepare for a transfer to an overseas club,” they wrote in a statement. “As for the future, we will notify everyone as soon as it is officially decided.”

It is claimed Tsunoda, 24, could sign for Cardiff before being loaned out to one of VIncent Tan’s other clubs, such as KV Kortrijk or FK Sarajevo. The left-footed centre-half won the J1 League in 2022.

Cardiff are keen to bolster their defensive ranks with the club in talks with Nottingham Forest over the possible recall of Jonathan Panzo, who has struggled for game time this season.

Carlton Palmer has offered his verdict on Jonathan Panzo’s predicament at Cardiff, with the former England, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday player telling Football League World: “Forest are not happy that their centre-back Jonathan Panzo went to Cardiff City on loan, and has only played 170 minutes in all competitions,” he began. “Forest are considering recalling him and loaning him back out to another Championship or European club.

“Panzo was not short of admirers in the summer, with the likes of Swansea City, West Brom, Coventry City, Rangers, Birmingham City, and Anderlecht all interested in signing him.”

Cardiff winger Kieron Evans is preparing for a move to Gateshead.

The former Wales youth international, 22, impressed Bulut in pre-season and it was hoped the club would find a loan for him in League Two, but a suitable offer never transpired and he remained at Cardiff where he was forced to wait around for cup outings.

Now, the Bluebirds are able to send him on loan to get some more senior game time under his belt, albeit at a lower level than they had hoped for in the summer.

National League side Gateshead have won the race for his signature, with other fifth-tier sides also thought to be keen on him in this window. Evans was a bright spark for a poor Torquay United side in the same division last season.

Under-21s defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott also sealed a loan move away today, to Scottish outfit Dunfermline.

“Delighted to have signed with Dunfermline until the end of the season,” he said. “Looking forward to meeting up with the boys and getting started!”
