Cardiff City are close to two new signings and are interested in Fenerbahce striker Umut Nayir, manager Erol Bulut has revealed.

The Bluebirds are keen to bolster their ranks this month, with a particular interest in adding to their forward ranks before the deadline on February

Turkey striker Nayir has been out of favour at Fenerbahce this season after a prolific campaign in front of goal for Eyupspor last term. And Bulut admitted he is one name on the list.

“Many players are on our target,” he said. “It doesn’t say only we are looking for those players. When we make offers, it doesn’t mean next day he is here. Other clubs are also talking to those players. It’s not so easy. It’s economics, what you can do and in this we have a little bit of problems. We try hard to get some players in. I hope in a few days we can finalise.

“It is not only him. We have a few players, strikers, on our target. We cannot focus on only one player. If we don’t get it then we don’t have another option. Umut Nayir is one of those players we are interested in, like Kieffer Moore, like how we said at the start of the season.

“We want him [Moore], but two or three clubs are interested in him. It’s also a point from his club that they need to buy a striker. It takes time for them to let him go. And I lose time because of this. So I need options. I have these options, Umut Nayir and one or two other players where I can immediately take one of them. If not then I have nothing.

It’s not only up to us. It’s also a bit about the club, the player, like this we will continue.”

Asked if anything is close, Bulut replied: “We are close to two players, yes, but we haven’t finalised anything. It can be quick, tomorrow, but it can also be next week that it is finished.”

One player who has been constantly linked with Cardiff is Anastasios Bakasetas, the Trabzonspor playmaker who is wanted by Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig.
