Blackburn Rovers could accept £10m bid for Tottenham-wanted Wharton
Blackburn Rovers could demand a fee of between £10-15million for Tottenham target Adam Wharton in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that Spurs are stepping up their interest in the 19-year-old after watching him regularly.
However, Blackburn are desperate to keep hold of Wharton this month and are ready to reject offers in the winter window.
But the Lancashire club are bracing for interest ahead of the summer window at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that a bid of between £10-15million could be enough to land the youngster – with his home-grown status a huge factor in that valuation.
It is believed Blackburn will find it hard to reject a big offer which falls inside that price bracket.
As well as Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton have also been impressed with the teenager and are also readying a move for his services.
Sources say his admirers in the Premier League feel Wharton is a player who could take the step up to the top flight with ease.
He has only recently signed a new, long-term contract with Blackburn – putting pen to paper in December on a deal which could keep him at the club until June 2028.
The 19-year-old has made 27 appearances this term, notching one goal and three assists
Spurs have placed a big emphasis on signing young talent in recent windows and even raided Blackburn last summer – bringing centre-back Ashley Phillips to the club.
Ange Postecoglou’s side sit fifth in the Premier League table ahead of their next clash with Man United on Sunday (14 January).
