Lincoln City agree deal to sign Luton Town star Joe Taylor
Lincoln City have agreed a deal to sign Luton Town striker Joe Taylor on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League Hatters announced on Monday they had recalled the 21-year-old from his loan spell at League Two Colchester United after exercising a break clause.
It is believed that Taylor is now set to move up a division to League One and join the Imps for the remainder of the campaign
Lincoln have won the race to land the promising striker after fending off competition from other League One clubs, including Wycombe Wanderers, Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United.
The centre-forward had a prolific spell at Colchester in the first half of the season, bagging 12 goals and 2 assists across 27 games in all competitions.
He moved to Kenilworth Road from Peterborough in January last year for an undisclosed fee.
Taylor rose through the ranks with the Posh very quickly after impressive performances with their under-23s and made his senior debut for the club in March 2022 against Bournemouth.
Luton are now eager to test the Welsh youth international at a higher level following his impressive stint with Colchester.
He has made three appearances for the Wales under-21 side, most recently in their European Championship qualifier against Denmark in November.
Lincoln City sit 11th in the third tier following four consecutive defeats.
Luton were forced into a third-round FA Cup replay by Bolton on Sunday (7 January) after their 0-0 draw and next face fellow relegation battlers Burnley in the Premier League on Friday (12 January).
