Bring on Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah! Wrexham defender reveals FA Cup dream for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side ahead of fourth round draw
WHAT HAPPENED?
The League Two side made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup – emulating their efforts from the 2022-23 season – by edging out Shrewsbury Town 1-0 on Sunday. With the fourth-round draw set to take place later on Monday
, Wrexham defender Max Cleworth has revealed the name of the club he is looking forward to facing in the next stage.
WHAT MAX CLEWORTH SAID
Speaking to reporters ahead of the draw, Cleworth said, “I was a Liverpool fan when I was younger so probably Liverpool, but then my family are Geordies so probably Newcastle would be nice as well, so either one of them would be my dream tie. I would like to see Klopp on the touchline at the Racecourse so wherever we play them, I don’t mind. I think it would be funny to see Salah and Klopp roll through the Racecourse Ground and see if they can handle it.
“Just to play any of them, to see the level, the way they do things it would be good to experience that level. They’ve played in some big games, but for our fans to have that level of players here would be unreal, it would be a massive occasion for the club.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Red Dragons manager Phil Parkinson is also hoping to land a home fixture in the next round of the FA Cup against a big team as he revealed that he wants to avoid an opponent from the fourth division.
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
After progressing in the FA Cup, the Welsh club will now start preparing for a crucial League Two clash against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. A win against The Dons will help Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side climb up to the top of the league table.
