Thorough searching on-going for the masked man who stole more than $70K from Colchester Team, state police says

COLCHESTER — State troopers are searching for a man who stole more than $7,000 in cash from the TD Bank on Norwich Avenue on Friday, state police said.

Authorities responded around 6 p.m. to the bank branch at 64 Norwich Avenue after a 911 caller reported that a masked man had robbed the bank, according to the Connecticut State Police.

 

Police said the suspect, who witnesses described as a light-skinned man in his 30s, demanded money from a bank employee before fleeing with cash. Police said the suspect was wearing black clothing, including a face covering, a puffy, hooded North Face jacket, skinny jeans and sneakers.

No arrests have been announced in connection with the ongoing investigation. Officials said the state law enforcement agency’s Eastern District Major Crime Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

Essex Police would like to speak with Daniel Bannerman, 32, who frequents the Colchester area.

He has been described as a slim-to-medium build, 6ft 2ins tall, with light brown hair and a moustache.

According to a Essex Police spokesman, officers have now launched an appeal to find him.

They said: “We want to speak to him in connection with a theft from the Tesco Express store in Magdalen Street on January 2.
