Wrexham star have no intention of signing a new contract due to what transpired.
PAUL MULLIN has been no stranger to success with Wrexham – both on a personal note and as a team – but the striker is only just getting started
The 29-year-old striker has scored 90 goals in 117 appearances in all competitions since arriving at The Racecourse in the summer of 2021 from Cambridge United.
Wrexham’s reigning, back-to-back Player of the Season helped Phil Parkinson’s men secure the National League title last term and he has been rewarded for his efforts with a new contract keeping with the Reds until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
With a number of other accolades to his name, Mullin is focussed on ensuring Wrexham’s rise through the divisions doesn’t stop and he has no intentional of plying his trade anywhere else.
“Since I signed for the club it has been an unbelievable ride and an unbelievable journey,” said Mullin, who netted his 11th goal of the season in the 4-1 victory over Barrow on New Year’s Day which keeps Wrexham flying high in League Two.
“I love the place and love everything about it.
“I never want to play football anywhere else, I absolutely love playing here.
“When the club came to me with the offer, I jumped at the chance and I am buzzing going forward.
“I am going to stay here a lot longer than I initially first signed for, it is going to be a long time, but hopefully it can be a successful one.
“Up to now we have been a success but we want to keep going and keep pushing.
“It has been a phenomenal journey but it’s one that isn’t stopping here.”
Victory over Barrow leaves Wrexham third in the table, two points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.
Parkinson’s men took nine points from four games in 10 days over the festive period and although Mullin was happy with the return, he is always striving for more.
“It’s a really good tally,” he said. “To win three of the four games is really good.
“Obviously it is disappointing to lose one but that is just the way we are as a group, we want to win every single game.
“It is a great points return for us but that is all it is at the moment, we have just got to keep going.”
Wrexham are challenging for a second successive promotion but Mullin, who has been joined by playmaker Elliot Lee in committing his future to the club, is keeping his feet on the ground.
The frontman is looking no further than the next game and that means trying to beat cross-border rivals Shrewsbury Town in Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at The Croud Meadow.
“Now the contract is all sorted, we can concentrate on doing the job in each individual game which is most important,” he said.
“They all add up come the end of the season but we don’t think ahead.
“We have got Shrewsbury next in the FA Cup this weekend and that is our mindset.
“We go into that game looking to do as well as we can in the cup and then it is back to the league.
“We have got to fully concentrate on the next game because if you get too far ahead of yourself, you can always come back down to earth with a bang.”
