Carlyle's David Rubenstein in Talks to Acquire Baltimore Orioles - Bloomberg

Baltimore Orioles Veteran Reliever Prospect have formally seal a deal According to MLB Insider

Another bullpen addition could be on the horizon for the Baltimore Orioles according to reports.

While many are focused on the Baltimore Orioles attempting to land an elite starting pitcher this offseason, the front office has shown they don’t put all their eggs in one basket.

General manager, Mike Elias, won’t solely be focused on one thing while he can make additional moves to help out his club.

According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Orioles are interested in veteran reliever Ryan Brasier.

He notes that four other teams are also in on the market for the 36-year-old right-hander after he’s coming off an incredible back-half of last season.

It certainly didn’t look like that would be the case for Brasier after he was released by the Boston Red Sox in May 2023. He had posted a 7.29 ERA over 20 appearances and gave up more than a hit per inning.

But, he signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and after being called-up, he completely turned his season around.

In 39 appearances, he recorded an incredible 0.70 ERA, giving up only three earned runs over 38 2/3 innings pitched.

What teams have to figure out is what type of version they are getting after they sign the veteran.

For the majority of his career he was with the Red Sox and posted a 4.55 ERA over 222 appearances, while having an ERA+ of 101 during his roughly six seasons there.

Red Sox designate reliever Ryan Brasier for assignment

It’s very unlikely he will do anything close to what he pulled off with the Dodgers in 2023, but he still showed that, even at this age, he can get Major League hitters out.

Baltimore could view him as someone worth taking a flyer on, adding him to their bullpen unit before the season starts.
