Red Sox Reportedly Considering Blockbuster Trade For Superstar Pitcher who is keen to practice with Squad

Boston needs to add a starting pitcher and reportedly is considering a blockbuster deal

It sounds like the Boston Red Sox could have another trade up their sleeve this offseason.

Boston already has been busy in the trade market and dealt away outfielder Alex Verdugo and pitcher Chris Sale. The Red Sox sound like they are a long way from finished and need to add another frontline hurler this offseason.

It’s unclear exactly what they will do, but Boston reportedly is showing interest in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox for Dylan Cease, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

 

“The White Sox are weighing offers for Cease, and the (New York Yankees) and (Baltimore Orioles) are among those to express ‘sincere’ interest, according to major-league sources briefed on the discussions,” Rosenthal said. “Other teams are serious, however. While the exact list of suitors is not known, the (Los Angeles Dodgers), (St. Louis Cardinals), and (Boston Red Sox) are among the teams possibly in the mix…

“The Red Sox, like the Dodgers, possess a top-five system and are seeking a top-of-the-rotation starter.”

Cease would be a massive pickup for the Red Sox. Boston’s farm system is strong and the club likely could get a deal done if it wanted. It just depends on whether or not the Red Sox are willing to part with either Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, or Kyle Teel.

The 28-year-old star is under contract for the next two seasons and immediately would give the Red Sox the top-of-the-rotation ace that they need. Boston clearly has competition for the young hurler, but it sounds like it is showing interest in a move at least.
