Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare to face Blackpool in FA Cup tie

Nottingham Forest have a few injury doubts for Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Blackpool.

The Reds could be without Anthony Elanga after he picked up a knock in last weekend’s victory over former club Manchester United. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is unlikely to take any risks over the 21-year-old given his team head into a fortnight’s break after this weekend.

Meanwhile, Morgan Gibbs-White suffered a dead leg against United but is expected to be in contention for the third round clash. And there is uncertainty over striker Divock Origi, who was absent last time out.

“Anthony took a knock in the last game. He is an important absence for us,” Nuno said ahead of the match at the City Ground.

“Let’s see how Divock is, he is still recovering. Something is not comfortable.

“He improves but then today in the training session he worked but in the end he felt something that doesn’t give him comfort. We are going to do an MRI again to see if there is something. Hopefully he is going to be available, but that is the doubt we have.

“Morgan took a big impact and had a dead leg. He is still struggling, so let’s see how he recovers.

“Anthony, for sure, is out. We have a couple more doubts but they are not so serious.

“Those doubts are part of our job – we prepare, we train, then we get the medical reports so we go again. We have to be careful because we need to protect the players and not take any risks on their health.”

Defender Felipe (hamstring) and striker Taiwo Awoniyi (groin) remain absent. The Reds are also without six players who are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. Moussa Niakhate, Cheikhou Kouyate, Willy Boly, Serge Aurier, Ibrahim Sangare and Ola Aina have all been called up by their countries for the tournament, which runs from January 13 to February 11.
